The human wave attack, also known as the human sea attack, is an offensive infantry tactic in which an attacker conducts an unprotected frontal assault with densely concentrated infantry formations against the enemy line, intended to overrun the defenders by engaging in melee combat.

In detail an army uses its massive numbers to surround and overwhelmed the enemy in which they will be open to attacks on many sides thus enabling to close in and force them into a chaotic melee despite their superior firepower.

Against a medieval army with similar technology and weaponry a frontal human wave attack is a very risky maneuver since this tactic requires all soldiers to run towards an enemy without cover and are exposed in the open thus putting themselves in danger against hails of arrows and coordinated spear defenses formation that can cause severe unnecessary deaths on an army's ranks

During the Imperial Civil War the Pro-War forces uses this tactic combined with Banzai Charge during ambushes to force the JSDF into a melee (in which they erroneously believe they have advantage from) in which despite its outdated method manages to inflict minor damage to the JSDF. Combined with the insane and brutal tactics of the Pro-War soldiers of immeasurable numbers always charge head first into battle.

Still doing so proved to be an extremely detrimental tactic against a technological advanced foe such as the JSDF as it takes hundreds to thousands of soldiers and war beast just to overwhelm a small force of JSDF while suffering massive casualties from mortar, artillery and napalm. Thus leading to many humiliating defeats for the Empire and destruction of 90% of the Imperial Army.
